How Santa travels

Santa sets off where it is midnight first: on Kiritimati, Christmas Island in the middle of the Pacific (UTC+14). From there he flies west with midnight, one time zone after another, over Asia, Europe and America. His last stop is Baker Island (UTC−12), 26 hours later; then he flies home to the North Pole.

He reaches us at midnight UK time, as Christmas Eve turns into Christmas Day. By then children had better be asleep: Santa only comes when everyone is sleeping.

No app and no sign-up: the server works out where Santa is from the clock, so the page also works without JavaScript. An open page moves the sleigh by itself every minute – you can leave it open all day.
