Tips for hosting an ugly sweater party

• No ugly sweater yet? Take an old one from the back of the closet and sew or pin on felt shapes, pom-poms and tinsel.
• On a sweater you want to wear again, use a needle and thread or fabric glue – hot glue never comes out of wool.
• Pick a theme for the night – reindeer only, one color or sweaters straight from the 80s – and the photos look like a set.
• Keep the room cool and open a window now and then: everyone is wearing wool.
• Hand out the ballots at the start, collect them before dessert and announce the results with a little ceremony.
