How they look on a window
How to make the window silhouettes
- Pick a silhouette: the ✂ easy ones are mostly scissor work, the ✂✂ and ✂✂✂ ones have more holes to cut with a craft knife.
- Print its page at 100% scale – then the silhouette has the size shown beside its name. Another scale works too; it only changes the size.
- First cut out the grey holes with a craft knife on a cutting mat. This is a job for an adult.
- Then cut along the outer line with scissors.
- Stick it on the window with the printed side against the glass – any bits of line left won’t show from the room. A few small pieces of tape will do, or a little glue stick, which washes off with water.
- After the holidays, peel it off and wash the glass with water.
Tips
Thicker paper (120–160 g/m²) holds its shape better. Children can cut the outline of the easy silhouettes by themselves with scissors; an adult cuts the holes. You can also hold a cut-out silhouette against the glass and spray artificial snow around it: take it away and a clean shape is left in a frame of snow.
