Class Secret Santa, step by step
- Start a list. A name, your name and a gift budget (e.g. “up to $15”), which everyone on the list sees. No account and no e-mail. Whoever starts the list is on it first: a teacher takes part in the draw with the children, and a class parent can type their child's name.
- Show the QR code or send the link. At the parents' meeting, put the QR code on the full screen for the parents to scan, or post the join link in the parents' chat. A parent adds their child by first name only, and one phone can add several children, e.g. brothers and sisters. Two Emmas? Add an initial: “Emma K.” Not sure what to write? Ready-made invitation texts.
- Each child writes a letter to Santa. On their own or with a parent: what they wish for, with a photo of a drawing or a link to the toy.
- The draw. Once everyone is on the list, you click “Draw the letters”. Nobody draws themselves, and you can keep brothers and sisters from drawing each other.
Our tip: a number instead of the name
The button below picks it for you in the form. Every Santa writes the number from the drawn letter on the parcel, not a name, and the parcels wait under the tree. On the day the gift sack opens – the class Christmas party or St Nicholas' Day on December 6 – every child gets the number of the parcel to open, and “Who has which number” shows them all. Only its Santa knows who a gift is from.
Neater than a marker: printable tags with numbers.
Gifts ready? Secret Santa games and reveal ideas.
Rather names on the parcels? Pick “The letter now, the name later”: Santa buys the gift from the letter alone and sees the name on the day the gift sack opens.
What does the draw show?
A number instead of the name
You write the number on the parcel. When the gift sack opens, everyone gets the number of their own parcel.
The letter now, the name later
First the letter, without a name. On the day the gift sack opens, the name shows up.
No accounts, no e-mails, no surnames
Nobody signs up or gives an e-mail address: a first name is enough. It is free, and a list holds 3 to 100 people, so a whole class fits, even several classes.
For the kids while the names are drawn: Christmas color by number: 8 pixel art pictures.
Plain outlines to color, without numbers: Christmas coloring pages: 16 free printables, or color online.
