Three steps
- Type the names. One per line, 3 to 100. The names must differ: two Olas? Write “Ola K.” and “Ola M.”.
- Tap “Draw names”. The draw happens right away.
- Pass the phone around. Everyone taps their own name, reads whom they get a gift for and hides it again. Each person sees only their own.
The rules of the draw
Nobody draws themselves, and from 3 people on no two people draw each other: everyone gives a gift to one person and gets one from another.
Couples or siblings who shouldn't draw each other go under “Pairs who don't draw each other”, one pair per line, e.g. Anna + Ben. If these pairs leave no possible draw, the page says so: then remove one of the pairs. Exclusions: who and how many.
“Draw again” makes a new draw, and everyone has to look at theirs again.
Prefer paper? Print name slips to draw from a hat.
When a list on santa.haus is better
The draw on one phone is for one evening at one table. Start a free list when:
- you are not together: everyone joins from a link on their own phone, up to 100 people;
- everyone should write a letter to Santa – a gift wish, a shop link and a photo – for their Santa to read;
- the gift budget should be there for everyone on the list to see;
- the names should come out later: on a chosen day the gift sack opens, e.g. on Christmas Eve, or everyone gets a number to write on the parcel.
