How to play

The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations, each one built up from ace to king in a single suit. On the seven columns, build down in alternating colours (a red seven on a black eight, for example); whole built runs can move too, and only a king may go to an empty column. When you run out of moves, turn cards from the stock – one at a time on Easy, three at a time on Normal – and turn the empty stock over as often as you like. Click or tap a card and then where it should go, or drag it there; a double click sends a card to its foundation, and Tab with Enter plays the game without a mouse. A card on a foundation scores 10 points, a card turned face up 5, a card taken back from a foundation costs 15, and a win adds a time bonus.

For grandparents, parents and the whole family: big, clear cards, undo without limit and no sign-up or ads.

Fun fact: in Britain, card games for one player are still called “patience” – a French word that also gave many languages their name for solitaire.
